Supposedly Last Dance, even though everyone (fans) is hoping for a fight with Spider-Man. Tom Hardy in his third adventure once again goes off the rails and serves us more of the same, which the bigwigs at Sony and the newly minted director Kelly Marcel believe people want. Considering the drop in revenue in the US, it is worth seriously rethinking the future of the entire Spider-Man universe (and the slew of related villain spin-offs). However, I believe that the whole trilogy works as very light-hearted entertainment (in an even more beastly way than the MCU) and although it is the weakest installment, thanks to plenty of well-aimed lines from Hardy and Venom, it is still bearable to watch. It just struck me that the creators ignored Michelle Williams and didn't even talk her into a cameo appearance. ()
Those liked the first two films will be satisfied. Those who half-liked them won't be surprised. And those who didn't like them should stay home. ()
As the title suggests, the third adventure of Eddie and his symbiote from outer space is supposed to be the conclusion of the trilogy, and it is a pretty satisfying send-off! Compared to the second part, there is less unnecessary digital clutter and more monsters, which I take as a positive. I liked the interlude with Mrs. Chen and the "flash" background of Dr. Paine, while the scenes with the family bothered me with their annoying template-ness (Just save the kids!). Despite the rather predictable plot in places, the film flew by in the cinema thanks to the regularly dosed action and, given the post-credit scenes, I'm not really sure if it's really going to be a send-off – the door was left ajar.
