Evils of the Night (1985)
The American horror movie Evils of the Night is very naive, perhaps a little silly, and too far-fetched in places. Rather than trying to be a horror movie, it focuses on creating an impact on the viewer and provides some entertaining content. The people who made the movie had no great ambitions, and if you can go with that, you will find this movie entertaining.
Cabin 28 (2017)
The British movie Cabin 28 claims to have been inspired by actual events, which are so sinister and unfathomable that no one was ever convicted of the heinous crime. Cabin 29 twists real events somewhat. It even proffers its own explanations. However, in general, it is really boring. This home invasion is not filmed originally or interestingly enough to keep the viewer entertained throughout its duration.
Buried Alive (2007)
The American movie Buried Alive is nothing more but a clichéd demonic killing spree, which has been done to death. Buried Alive is a joyless movie that I think people only watch for the gratuitous amount of nudity. It is nice to gaze at, but there is nothing else to keep the viewer interested once that wears off. In this case, it is just a one-trick pony.
Qiu ai ye jing hun (1989)
The Hong Kong movie In Between Loves (Qiu ai ye jing hun) is more for fans of Maggie Cheung and possibly of other actors, but certainly not for real horror movie aficionados. This movie offers true horror fans nothing except a lengthy love story with slightly – but really just somewhat sinister overtones.
Lake Artifact (2019)
The American movie Lake Artifact is more of a science-fiction movie than a horror movie because it has a time paradox element that tricks the audience with time jumps. It could be looked at as a rather chilled-out affair and even as a comedy, especially at the movie's beginning. Here and there, the movie builds up well. However, this is again due to the time jumps that really mess with the viewer's head.
O Segredo da Bala de Prata (1985)
The American film Silver Bullet is an enjoyable old movie with those 80s vibes that can get under your skin, but it also has some great characters. The child protagonists may not be your cup of tea, but they are very well cast, plus they are believable, and the same goes for their relationships. The movie works very well, and I regret waiting for it for so long. I really wish I had seen this movie back in the day.
Knights of the Damned (2017)
Knights of the Damned tries hard to really feel like a horror movie, yet you cannot get rid of the feeling that it is just a better LARP adventure with one advantage: it sometimes works. However, you should not expect a decent horror thing because it is just a fantasy adventure, including dragons. They seriously do not look good and are hardly a visual treat.
Gacy House (2010)
The American movie 8213: Gacy House follows the trend of found footage movies and is really nothing more than a simple found footage movie. It does not matter if it references American serial killer John Wayne Gacy or someone else entirely. The killer's identity is completely irrelevant because they do not use his story at all. The movie is quite predictable, and it, therefore, proves to be a pretty weak movie for this particular genre. However, if you are not completely bored of found footage movies, go for it.
La lupa mannara (1976)
The Italian movie Werewolf Woman is a beautiful combination of horror and eroticism and to top it off has a poetic approach to movie-making. It is definitely worth seeing as it is something you do not see as much of these days and is great for a fifty-year-old movie. I think it is wonderful that something so old can still captivate and charm the soul of a true aficionado.
The Dark Side of Midnight (1984)
The American movie The Dark Side of Midnight is really only a horror movie in the sense that it loosely belongs to the slasher genre. However, it has little in common with slasher movies in terms of grit, atmosphere, and suspense. The Dark Side of Midnight is mostly a straightforward movie that conveys the vibe of the 1980s and demonstrates that it was not so bad and, in retrospect, has its charm. They simply do not make movies like this anymore.
