Biografia
Shortly after graduating with her bachelor degree in Operatic Theatre from The Juilliard School in New York, America Olivo and 3 of her closest friends, formed the harmonic music group Soluna. They we're offered and signed a multi-million dollar contract with DreamWorks Records with whom they had a #1 selling single, For All Time, and a #1 dance hit, Bring It To Me, co-written by America Olivo and the members of Soluna.
After proving to be successful on stage and radio, the network UPN put America Olivo and the other three members of Soluna in the Soluna Project pilot produced collectively by Paramount Pictures. As a music group, Soluna's success led them throughout the United States and Latin America opening on two major tours, one with Enrique Iglesias and the other with Marc Anthony. She has been honored to perform on stages such as Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Gardens, and the Staples Center also performing with such artists as Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, No Doubt, Elton John, Shakira, Nelly, Destiny's Child, Alanis Morisette, Stevie Wonder, and many more.
In 2004, the recording industry took a bit hit and Soluna was forced to take an extended hiatus. America Olivo continued to pursue a career in her equal artistic love, acting. She landed roles on TV series such as How I met Your Mother, Jake in Progress, The Brother's Garcia, Cuts, regular role on General Hospital and a recurring on House, M.D. With her experience in TV, she was able to cross over once again, into a new area of entertainment, film.
Her first films were The Thirst: Blood Wars, Love Shack, and The Last Resort. She later landed a small role in Iron Man, and then a lead in the largest grossing horror film of all time, Friday the 13 2009, then on to Transformers 2, and also her release and cult hit, Bitch Slap. Her another film, Neighbor, a horror franchise, was released and received well by the horror fans and sites across the US and Worldwide. She was looking forward to the fall release of her thriller, Circle, and No One Lives. She has appeared in a guest starring role in Law and Order: Criminal Intent and was also guest starring in the new season of NCIS: Los Angeles premiering September 20, 2011. Also, in pre-production was her romantic coming of age comedy, You May Be Right.
In the meantime, America is still a recording artist, placing songs on the films she works on, such as Bitch Slap and Neighbor. She was working on her follow up dance single for her billboard charting song Déjà vu. For Bitch Slap, America Olivo appeared on the cover of the June 2009 issue of Playboy as a celebrity with pictorial. She has also appeared in Maxim UK and Maxim en Espanol, as well as the cover of CMD magazine, Latino Future, People en Espanol, and more. Though a Los Angeles native, theatre has brought her to reside in New York with her husband, Christian Campbell.
