Joan-Marc Zapata graduated in Advertising and Public Relations at Girona University and completed a Master in Film Directing at the Bande à Part school in Barcelona, where he shot his first shorts. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he worked on several film sets. He has directed the short films No y sí (2013), La marinada (2014), Now I Know (2016), El dibuix (2017) and Bright Side in D Minor (2018), entirely shot in Switzerland, which received the Best Soundtrack Award at the Medina del Campo Film Festival. El color del cielo is his first feature film.
