Sinopses(1)

Rand Peltzer (Hoyt Axton) é um "inventor" que, ao tentar dar um presente natalino único para seu filho, Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan), compra em Chinatown um Mogwai, um ser aparentemente gracioso. Mas o dono, um velho chinês, não queria vendê-lo por dinheiro nenhum, pois ter um Mogwai envolve muitas responsabilidades. Entretanto, o neto do ancião o vende por duzentos dólares e diz as regras essências para ter um Mogwai: nunca colocá-lo diante de uma luz forte e muito menos na luz solar, que pode matá-lo; nunca molhá-lo e, a regra principal, nunca o alimente após a meia-noite, mesmo que ele chore ou implore. Rand ouve o aviso sem dar a devida importância e leva o Mogwai para sua casa em Kingston Falls, uma pequena cidade. Paralelamente, Billy trabalha como caixa de banco e sofre com as exigências de Ruby Deagle (Polly Holiday), uma cliente igualmente rica e antipática. (Warner Bros. Brasil)
