In this unusual Hans Christian Andersen adaptation, the title includes the phrase "Barbie Presents," which suggests that she will not play a major role in the story. She plays only herself and is the narrator of Thumbelina’s great adventure. There is also an ecological subtext (which is supported by the fact that the dolls in the series for this film are sold in recyclable paper boxes). It’s a very good idea.
