At the beginning of the twentieth century, Sachish, an upper caste young man, rebels against his conservative father and joins his uncle in helping the lower castes. He marries the pregnant mistress of his brother who refuses to assume his responsibilities. But the young woman soon commits suicide and his uncle dies. Alone with his questions, Sachish joins a sect that provides the answer to none… Muchmore than a political work in a specific context, Chaturanga explores the religious desire of a man whose faith is in turmoil and who is searching for an inner peace free of any politicalmodel.
