Thomas, a Danish architect, says he's in Brazil on vacation but the truth lies elsewhere. In reality, Thomas deeply longs to have a child of his own. His application for adoption was turned down in Denmark because he is gay but Thomas has heard that he might be able to buy a baby in Brazil. Thomas soon finds himself at odds with the law. He gets himself in serious trouble but then he meets a woman and after that, nothing will ever be the same again. ROSA MORENA is a beautiful story about longing, unexpected love and real human values. (texto oficial do distribuidor)

inglês In Rosa Morena, we follow Thomas, a man living a comfortable, financially secure life—a classic Scandinavian situation, where everything seems perfect but something’s still missing. Instead of adopting a child closer to home, Thomas heads straight to Brazil, diving deep into the slums to find what he’s looking for. At first, it felt like the story of a privileged man with too much money and not enough perspective, searching for something to fulfill him. But as the film unfolds, you see the stark contrast between Thomas’ life and the everyday struggles of those in the favelas, highlighting cultural differences in a striking way. It’s a bit crazy, and hard to relate to at first, but eventually, you start to understand his journey. Even though it’s a premise that might seem foreign to many, especially outside of Denmark, the film’s portrayal of life in Brazil’s slums makes it compelling. That atmosphere alone kept me watching.
