The film reflects the weekdays of factory workers in the 70s. The seven member Varró family live in an apartment with one room and a kitchen in a shabby, one-storey building. Laci escaped the desk of the office clerk and chose to transport furniture in the hope of getting tips. Besides his own family and his grandparents even his younger sister lives with him. She can only meet her boy-friend, a married man, in a telephone booth. Their request to be given access to two separate flats is refused, and the same seven people will have to go on to a somewhat more spacious apartment in another block of flats. Uncle Varró, the old member of the choir, refuses to part with an environment he got accustomed to. When Laci takes him to his new home in his favourite armchair, he is hit by a heart attack. Initially they all are at a loss and are unable handle the magic electric switches. Yet slowly even Uncle Varró, who eventually returns from the hospital, learns to accept his new life.
