Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl), Sharp Objects is an eight-episode limited drama series that stars five-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams as Camille Preaker, a city journalist with a history of psychiatric issues, who returns to her rural hometown of Wind Gap, Missouri, to cover the apparent murders of two preteen girls. Trying to put together a psychological puzzle from her past, Camille finds herself clashing with her overbearing mother, Adora (Patricia Clarkson), falling back into a dangerous series of self-destructive habits, and identifying with the young murder victims a bit too closely. Sharp Objects (2018)

inglês A series with an interesting theme and a high-quality cast which was unfortunately slightly unbalanced. From the fourth episode on, I was decently entertained, even thrilled when watching the seventh and eighth episode. The slow and boring start, stretching over the first three episodes, was a real shame. But I decided to hang in there and was eventually rewarded with better quality writing and a well-executed plot. One thing that worked from start to finish was the intense, grim atmosphere. ()

Vanish (2018) (E01)

inglês The first episode left me with mixed feelings. The intriguing atmosphere, compelling storyline, and explanatory flashbacks immediately drew me in. However, the slow pace was disappointing. The storyline felt so sluggish that my mind wandered to other things, which is not something you want from a show. ()

Dirt (2018) (E02)

inglês Three stars for the genuinely eerie atmosphere and the intriguing mother-daughter relationship, but there wasn't much else to praise. The story's pace remained slow — so slow that a snail race would easily outpace it. There wasn't much plot development, but at least I had time to plan my Christmas gifts. ()

Fix (2018) (E03)

inglês Compared to the previous episodes, there was no improvement or decline — mostly because nothing really happened. The series has an interesting cast, well-developed characters, a gripping theme, and a great atmosphere, which should be a five-star package. The problem is, without a plot, all these strengths go to waste. The main takeaway so far? It feels like this show was sponsored by a liquor company. ()

Ripe (2018) (E04)

inglês I’m not sure if I’m just getting used to the super slow pace or if there was an actual change, but this episode left me with a much better feeling. It seemed like more happened in this episode than in all the previous ones combined. ()

Closer (2018) (E05)

inglês Ah, so the improvement I noticed in the previous episode was real. I genuinely enjoyed this one, especially the dynamic between the mother and daughter. The Calhoun Day celebration was spot-on and incredibly entertaining. ()

Cherry (2018) (E06)

inglês Interesting. The first three episodes felt slow and tedious, but the next three have actually drawn me in, even though the story still unfolds at a leisurely pace. The key difference is that episodes 1-3 lacked any real plot, but starting from the fourth episode, things have started to move (slowly, but surely), and I found myself unexpectedly entertained. ()

Falling (2018) (E07)

inglês The first episode that really picked up the pace. Despite the numerous scenes of long drives, things were constantly happening or being addressed, giving me the sense that the story is finally diving into the crucial elements. I'm curious to see how the creators wrap everything up. It's just a shame about those first three dull episodes. ()

Milk (2018) (E08)

inglês The final episode didn’t disappoint, even though I somewhat expected this twist after the previous one. I was captivated by how the slow-paced story suddenly turned into a gripping psychothriller. I really enjoyed it. However, I’m still curious about who was actually pulling those teeth — it's quite a task! ()
