A compilation of symbols of Icelandic modernity and also traditional life, shot using vertical and horizontal panoramic images of the city, combined with footage of the busy streets and traffic. The film then focuses on nature, the countryside, fishermen, animal husbandry and farming, but also leisure time, sports, and the wild nature of the country's fjords. Loftur Gudmundsson (1892–1952) was an Icelandic director of documentaries and fiction films. Since the 1920s, he contributed significantly to the development of Icelandic cinema.
