Após terminar seu longo e famoso relacionamento com a sua musa Anna Karina e numa fase revolucionária da sua carreira, em 1966 o célebre Diretor e Escritor Jean-Luc Godard (Louis Garrel) inicia a produção da sua nova longa-metragem A Chinesa que narra a história de um grupo de jovens que tentam incorporar princípios maoistas ao seu cotidiano político. Durante as filmagens, ele conhece Anne Wiazemsky (Stacy Martin) e de imediato os dois apaixonam-se. Casam-se no mesmo ano, mas em Maio de 1968 Jean-Luc Godard coloca seu casamento à prova. Até o mais complexo e meticuloso dos homens pode sofrer por amor. Não foi diferente para Jean-Luc Godard. A paixão pela sua segunda esposa 17 anos mais nova transformou-o para sempre. The film deals with a quite crucial period in the life of the famous French director Jean-Luc Godard when he became politically involved and opinionated, which greatly influenced his future work. It's a drama but spiced up with a certain amount of comic irony that makes the film more digestible for the audience. Moreover, it's not just a one-sided view of Godard; his then-young wife Anne Wiazemsky also gets significant space. The inner commentary of one or the other on the situations adds the necessary pizzazz to the plot, and the married couple Louis Garrel and Stacy Martin are very convincing in their roles. (70%)
