Ženská na vrcholu

This is one of those films that had to look at least good on paper. The main idea is not bad, and quite a few professionals took part in the shooting, but it is obvious that despite all the efforts, Lenka Kny hasn't done much yet. Certain parallels with Poledňáková's work and the re-casting of Jana Preissová (this time as the grandmother) helped a little, but the whole of it unfortunately drags. (03/07/2022)

Queria realmente dar uma oportunidade ao filme, pensando que pelo menos a dupla de família Polívka-Polívková, como pai e filha, espremeria algo dele (infelizmente, eles estão juntos numa só cena). No entanto, Women at the Peak parece ser uma farsa pouco engraçada e pouco divertida para o público, criada apenas por causa dos honorários dos produtores e de um monte de patrocinadores, e cujos criadores ou não se preocupavam minimamente com a sua qualidade, ou talvez se preocupassem, mas as suas capacidades criativas, de fazer filmes e de contar histórias não eram suficientes (ambas possibilidades são tristes). Trata-se de uma comédia romântica de inverno terrivelmente preguiçosa, sem imaginação e simplesmente sem sucesso, sem graça nem romantismo. Em vez de gags, aparecem estereótipos de género e gozar de veganos, e existe uma tensão amorosa entre a protagonista, uma bio-mãe vegana de Praga que enche toda a gente de aipo e não consegue acender o seu próprio fogão, e um homem de montanha grosseiro e bruto que se contenta com cerveja e barriga de porco, apenas porque se encaixa no argumento, e não porque surge como uma consequência natural, credível e não forçada do desenvolvimento dos personagens. Em todos os aspetos, uma mistura de cenas mal realizada que é dolorosa de ver. (07/11/2019)

Based on my reviews, it must seem like I don't like Anna Polívková, but that's not the case. I have nothing against her at all, I just hate the movies and series in which she has been appearing lately. This film was just another version of the incredibly clichéd romance plot about a grouchy (insert a male character of your choice - gravedigger, burglar, backwoodsman, Crocodile Dundee, what have you) meets an emancipated woman from a big city, who is fighting a futile battle against natural elements, fauna, flora, etc. So, right from the start, it should be clear to every experienced viewer (that is, one who has seen at least three such films) how the story will develop and how it will end. I reminded myself again of why I don't like child actors, savored the usual "ever-so-subtle" product placement and desperately suffered through the storyline about Helena's parents. It wasn’t a nice experience, and the ending was sugary sweet enough to kill a diabetic. (22/05/2020)

Women at the Peak is one of those comedies that are basically impossible to laugh at. Unfortunately, in recent years, Czechs have been producing a huge number of similar impotent shenanigans. It seems to me like an infertile couple desperate to conceive a child and no matter how hard they try, it’s simply not going to happen. (40%) (18/12/2021)
