Atmospheric animated film about how art becomes a weapon in the fight against injustice in post-war France. The French city of Brest was bombed to the ground by the Allies during WWII. In 1950, reconstruction has begun. When construction workers go on strike demanding higher wages, the police fire straight into the crowd, killing one of the protesters. The union enlists the help of filmmaker René Vautier to document the workers’ situation and the funeral of the dead protester. A young worker named Zef helps Vautier with the shoot and then screens the film at various places of work. During the screenings, he recites the poem Un homme est mort. The film is based on actual events and Vautier’s film from 1950. (Göteborg Film Festival)
