(Cinemundo)

inglês In the Czech Republic, virtually unknown actor Alexis Michalik got a taste of the comfortable director's chair, which gave birth to a pleasant, sparkling comedy, the ones the film powerhouse that is France has been producing for the past two decades. Cyrano, My Love is not just a funny plaything about the origin of one of the most famous plays, Cyrano de Bergerac," as it is primarily a film about the Belle Epoque era, the "beautiful times" of the Third Republic framed by the years 1890 to 1914 when France experienced a period of prosperity and military power and became a world center of art and fashion. It gave birth to a specific French art of living and enjoying life, which resonates in the film. Although the film does not feature the most famous stars of French cinema, it would be unfair to label the participants second-rate. If you were to compare Cyrano, My Love to Shakespeare in Love, there is a thematic similarity, but I never managed to make it to the end of that one despite repeated attempts, whereas Cyrano, My Love perfectly suited my mood. Overall impression: 80%. ()

inglês It just suddenly happened, a miracle: at last I feel the urge to watch Edmond Rostand's rhyming romantic drama, Cyrano of Bergerac. Michalik's film, which tells the comic and dramatic story concerning the birth and premiere of this great play, so enchanted me that I'll have to look for an older treatment of the Cyrano story.
