Star Trek: A Geração Seguinte (1987)

inglês The best section of the Star Trek cult, probably because it is our "contemporary". In 40 years, viewers will probably laugh at it the way we laugh at the original series today, but still, I’ve grown to like the big family under the command of the charismatic "skinhead" Jean-Luc Picard. Thanks to The Next Generation, Star Trek has become a massive fiction world with incredible sophistication. The entire Star Trek series is a celebration of human imagination and often a treasure trove of great craftsmanship (some of the works are among the best that the series has produced as a genre). It is also gratifying to incorporate literary classics into an otherwise hi-tech storyline. In short, thanks to the Enterprise of any series, we can go where no one has gone before. ()

Encontro em Fairpoint (1987) (S01E01)

inglês This pilot is quite funny because it doesn't know what to do. Here and there it shows the glaring naivety of gestures and replicas of the sixties, here and there (not very often) the nascent phenomenon of The Next Generation flashes, but it will still take a few episodes before it finds a solid shape. Even Jean-Luc Pickard is looking for his identity, and in Encounter at Farpoint he is rather a misanthropic and very introverted adventurer, whose charisma is somehow covered by an impenetrable cold. All the better - at least he has enough room to break out nicely later. The other characters that impress are Data (allusively) and counselor Troy with her aerobic outfit and poodle hairstyle. Otherwise, it's more of a laughable matter that seems much more archaic than the films about Kirk's crew. ()
