Abel Ferrara once again tests the audience’s patience, and piles up the existential themes (probably largely autobiographical), on the topic of the frustration of parenthood, a marriage falling apart, and intellectualism that can never be satisfied. Of course, let us add a warped sense of art and the stigmas, and we get a deadly cocktail that would appeal to very few audiences. You will never believe me, however, Ferrara's previous movie Pasolini was far more accessible to the audience than this. However, Tommaso does not deserve any damnation, as the current rating suggests. [KVIFF 2019]
