A visual poem that captures the atmosphere of empty, pandemic-stricken central London. Balconies have turned into shop windows for social interactions, and private life is becoming a public affair. The growing limitations of mutual physical contact are offset by more frequent views outside the windows and balconies. Voyeuristic observations of neighbouring dwellings place the microworlds into which the current situation has plunged the people of London under a magnifying glass. In the building across the way, the neighbours furiously disinfect their balcony furniture, others go out onto the terrace for a morning coffee and cigarette. Interpersonal contacts are replaced by hearts on social networks, where arranged quarantined photos are shared. But for some, freedom has not vanished. Birds and plastic bags circle freely over the empty building complex. But for how much longer? (One World)
