In the Valley of Elah (2007)
Tommy Lee Jones is searching for his missing son and discovers that the army is not what it used to be. The director of the Oscar-winning Crash delivers a very compelling but quite challenging to watch psychological whodunit about the lengths to which a man will go to find out the truth and the lengths he must go to in order to come to terms with it. Tommy Lee Jones's excellent performance, the impressive cinematography and the smart script make In the Valley of Elah a very good film, although the slow pace may be an insurmountable obstacle for some
The Nines (2007)
A smart and well shot and written film with great actors. Definitely not for everyone, but worth checking out.
Schwerter des Königs - Dungeon Siege (2007)
Jumbled, with uneven visual effects and unconvincing visuals, and incredibly stupid. Still, entertaining in certain circumstances. If you can enjoy bad movies starring people who KNOW they won't win an Oscar for them, you'll be satisfied.
Farce of the Penguins (2006)
I think if I could get a few hours of penguin footage, a few bottles of alcohol, and call a few friends, I'd be able to make a movie like this too.
Charlie Wilson's War (2007)
Not a bad movie by any means, but it lacks something that will make me remember it in a week. The acting is decent, the plot moves along quickly, but there really isn't a single emotionally powerful moment or downright interesting scene. It’s a very safe bet from everyone involved. But quite enjoyable.
Nós Controlamos a Noite (2007)
Above average acting, below average script and a completely average film.
O Tesouro 2: O Livro dos Segredos (2007)
More like 2.5. It's the same as the first part. It's quite entertaining for two hours, but you forget about it before the end credits.
Underdog (2007)
The word that describes Underdog is asexual. It has everything a story about a mutt that can fly and talk should have, but somehow it doesn't hold together and it's not very fun to watch. And the constant rhyming got on my nerves.
Hitman (2007)
The script takes the worst of the 1980s, the director doesn't step out of the average and the whole thing takes itself too seriously to be fun. Timothy Olyphant is not bad, the supporting characters are not interesting and the action is far from impressive. And a few winks at fans of the game aren't enough to make an entertaining film.
O Diário de uma Nanny (2007)
An utterly redundant film that is only kept afloat by the beautiful Scarlett Johansson, the unhinged Paul Giamatti and the endearingly unlikeable Laura Linney. Otherwise, it's boring crap.
