Biografia

Leading figure of the Argentinian film industry, he produced and co-wrote his first feature, Luces de mis zapatos in 1973. Puenzo earned international recognition for La historia oficial (1985), which earned Norma Aleandro a best actress award at Cannes in 1985 and himself took home the Oscar for best film in a foreign language the following year. In 1989, Puenzo was chosen to direct Old Gringo, adapted from the novel by Carlos Fuentes, starring Jane Fonda and Gregory Peck. Other notable directing credits include With Open Arms (1990) or La Peste (1992).
