Biografia

Born in 1952, Yousry Nasrallah studies economics and politics at Cairo University, then attends the École Supérieure du Cinéma in 1973. His first feature film, Summer Thefts (1988), is screened in Cannes, and some critics consider it one of the films that contributed to the renaissance of the Egyptian cinema in the 1980s. Since then, notable credits include Mercedes (1993) and The City (1999), both screened at Locarno, as well as Scheherazade, Tell Me a Story (2009), which wins the Premio Lina Mangiacapre in Venice, and After the Battle (2012), in competition in Cannes.
