Petr Václav

Petr Václav graduated from the Prague Film and Television School (FAMU). His first feature, Marian (1996), won the Silver Shell at Locarno Festival. His second, Paralelní svety (Parallel Worlds), was presented in 2001 in the New Directors section of San Sebastian Festival. In 2004 he directed Cesta ven (The Way Out), winner of 7 Lions (Czech film awards), including Best Film, Director and Screenplay. Nikdy nejsme sami (We Are Never Alone) premiered in 2016 in Berlin Festival's Forum section and the following year he directed Skokan (2017). He has also made the documentary Zpoved' zapomenutého (Confession of the Vanished, 2016), about the composer Josef Myslivecek, whose life also provides the basis for his feature film, Il Boemo.
