Javier Aguirresarobe has collaborated with some of the world's most intriguing filmmakers. Born in Eibar, in the Basque region of Spain, Aguirresarobe has won six Goya Awards and a National Cinematography Award in Spain. In 2010, he was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Cinematography for his work on John Hillcoat's The Road.
Aguirresarobe's credits include Jonathan Levine's film Warm Bodies; Nicholas Stoller's The Five-Year Engagement; Craig Gillespie's Fright Night, the 2011 comic horror hit that starred Colin Farrell and David Tennant; and Chris Weitz's A Better Life, a drama set in East L.A. that starred Oscar® nominee Demián Bichir. His other credits include The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, for director David Slade; The Twilight Saga: New Moon, for director Chris Weitz; and Vicky Cristina Barcelona, for director Woody Allen.
His work in Spain includes Alejandro Amenábar's The Sea Inside, which won an Academy Award® for Best Foreign Language Film in 2005, and Amenábar's haunting 2001 film The Others. He shot the Academy Award®-winning Talk to Her, for Pedro Almodóvar, and Víctor Erice's documentary Quince Tree of the Sun, which received a Jury Prize and a FIPRESCI Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 1992.
His other notable works include James Ivory's The City of Your Final Destination, in 2009, and Milos Forman's Goya's Ghosts, in 2006. In 2003, he shot the black-and-white documentary Eric Clapton and Friends.
