Alright, it's somewhat political, but when you consider that it was created during a time when the revolution was quite alive and all those ideas weren't degenerated by Stalin, it carries weight. And I must say, some scenes gave me quite the shivers, not because I was scared of their ideological messages, but because they sounded quite epic. However, the best thing about the movie is undoubtedly its visual aspect and especially the costumes, which are beautiful and could actually work in a modern sci-fi as well.
