A comédia de ação Olho Vivo envia o Agente da Control Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell) na sua mais importante e perigosa missão até à data: impedir o derradeiro plano de supremacia mundial arquitetado pelo sindicato do crime conhecido por KAOS. Esta missão, contudo, é também a sua primeira missão. Quando o quartel-geral da agência secreta de espiões Control é atacada e as identidades dos seus agentes são comprometidas, o Chefe (Alan Arkin) não tem outra escolha senão promover o seu dedicado analista Maxwell Smart, que sempre sonhou trabalhar em campo ao lado do seu ídolo, a superestrela Agente 23 (Dwayne Johnson). Contudo, Smart é auxiliado pelo único outro agente cuja identidade ainda não foi comprometida: a bela, mas letal Agente 99 (Anne Hathaway). Smart e 99 aproximam-se um do outro e da possibilidade de deslindar o plano da KAOS e descobrem que um operativo da KAOS, Siegfried (Terence Stamp), e o respetivo ajudante, Shtarker (Ken Davitian), estão a armar um esquema para lucrarem com a rede de terror. Sem experiência e sem tempo a perder, Smart, munido de apenas algumas engenhocas de espionagem e do seu entusiasmo inabalável, tem de derrotar a KAOS se quer salvar o dia.

Anne Hathaway is great, but she really doesn't fit into an action movie for me at all. The plot wasn't too bad, the payoff was pretty okay. Just the main two, a jerk and an insightful woman, didn't work for me. Hathaway didn't make it because she's not cut out for it and I don't recognize Carell as an actor. Maybe they should have called it Get Hathaway and Carell. A very weak 3 stars.

Considering I just can’t stand Carell, I liked this rather a lot. I really thought he was right for the role of Smart. Anne Hathaway has become a real fox and she’s a delight to behold. Also James Caan was great as the president and The Rock hasn’t been that cool in a long time. The jokes are funny, the action brisk (Peter Segal really had fun here) and everything is exactly as it should be. Actually, I don’t know why, but I have a pleasant feeling from this movie.

After the movie "Evan Almighty," I wasn't really in the mood for Steve Carell, but I told myself that I would survive it because of Anne Hathaway. I chose a good movie because Carell showed that he can do comedy. His humor is on one hand Carrey-esque, but on the other hand, he has a stone face, as if he studied acting from Buster Keaton. Neither of them reaches great heights in the movie, but they both try, my boy. His stupid Smart, a bit like Clouseau, is not a new character, the story is nothing exceptional, and it just copies "Johnny English," but there are still moments where one can laugh.
