inglês Nothing that a slightly knowledgeable romantic viewer hasn't seen many times before, unfortunately including the emotionally rich final third. While I am not familiar with Spark's source material, it is clear from the plot outline alone that this time he chose a weaker moment, in which originality is very hard to find. When the adaptation then adds strange editing and a mismatched song soundtrack, the decision is made. I don't want to spend another night in Rodanthe. ()

inglês Romantic movies are a grateful topic. Especially when they are made to squeeze emotions out of people. And here we come to the main problem of the movie. It tries too hard to make people cry. And they will, that's probably true. A man finds himself in a house on the beach where he rents a room. He has a secret that we will soon reveal. He meets a woman who is also not having an easy time. The man left her for another woman, but wants to return to her. He even uses their children to blackmail her a little. Well, people sometimes know how to get what they want. But she falls in love with the foreigner she was accommodating. It's not surprising at all. This foreigner is Richard Gere, and let's be honest, this guy still has it. His charisma doesn't sparkle like Clooney's, but I think he is a big draw for women. And the story too. It's a classic romance, where two people search for each other, slowly, gradually, through difficult decisions and suffering, but in the end, they find each other. Unfortunately, it is ultimately so terribly schematic, and not even good actors can save it. I don't know why, but I have a feeling that when James Franco appears on the screen, the movie gains an extra point. The ending is very bad, where it pushes the envelope so much that either you will scream like a turtle, or you will simply watch it disgustedly as it slowly ends. Unfortunately, I have to say that in my case, I was closer to the second option. Why can't it happen a bit more civilly, a bit more humanely? This way, only scenes that make an impression can be put together, and that's basically it. At least it will evoke emotions in you.
