The Broken

Uma viagem sombria arrepiante no cenário de Londres nublada, que é ainda mais interessante porque não se sabe o que realmente se passa o tempo todo. Misterioso, assustador, sensual, confiando em excelentes truques de edição e de câmara, sons perturbadores e momentos de susto que surgem do nada e mais cedo, do que seria de esperar. Se houvesse um final com sentido que fizesse do filme um triste drama sobre um segredo de família escondido e obscuro (em vez de uma inexplicável e misteriosa alucinação ao estilo dos Ficheiros Secretos), eu dar-lhe-ia cinco estrelas. A propósito, foi exatamente assim que imaginei Espelhos de Aja no outro dia. (01/09/2011)

Decently atmospheric horror with attractive visuals. I think it’s very unlikely that Afterdark Horor Fest 2008 will deliver anything better. (21/03/2009)

In me didst thou exist - and, in my death, see by this image, which is thine own, how utterly thou hast murdered thyself." +++ From the beginning to the end, an oppressively disturbing atmosphere pervades the film, foreshadowed by an ominous quote from Edgar Allan Poe right at the beginning. Psychological games like the ones in The Broken can scare me far more than flowing streams of blood. (70%) (06/07/2021)
