The American Dream goes horribly wrong when the residents of this picture-perfect town begin to succumb to an uncontrollable urge for violence and the horrific bloodshed escalates into anarchy. In an attempt to contain the epidemic, the military uses deadly force to close off access into or out of town, abandoning the few healthy citizens to the growing mayhem as depraved killers lurk in the shadows. Sheriff David Dutton (Timothy Olyphant); his pregnant wife, Judy (Radha Mitchell); Becca (Danielle Panabaker), an assistant at the medical center; and Russell (Joe Anderson), Dutton’s deputy and right-hand man, find themselves trapped in a once-idyllic town they can no longer recognize. Unable to trust former neighbors and friends, deserted by the authorities and terrified of contracting the illness themselves, they are forced to band together in a nightmarish struggle for survival. português Filme da qualidade técnica, atmosférica e de género de atuação, que é infelizmente abatida por reviravoltas clichés baratas (sabe-se exatamente quem, a quem, quando e como salva no último momento). A primeira liga da companhia de O Renascer dos Mortos ou 30 Dias de Escuridão não acontece, The Crazies - Desconfia dos Teus Vizinhos permanece um nível abaixo. ()

inglês Neither thrilling action, nor an interesting plot, nor a groundbreaking twist. Surprisingly, perhaps only Timothy Olyphant saves it. I expected another wild ride, and it's like it wasn't the same without the zombies. The atmosphere in the trailer was twice as intense as in the final version of the movie, which is at least worth pondering. ()

inglês At first glance, The Crazies looks like one of many titles in the horror genre, riding the wave of interest in zombie themes. However, the plot and script deal with a completely real threat of weapons of mass destruction and a global pandemic with immeasurable consequences. A secret government plan for isolating and "cleaning up" the affected area regardless of human lives is introduced. A gripping race against time begins to escape the deadly trap. The Crazies could have become an above-average genre treat if it weren't for the director's feeling that mere paranoia and the risk of infection are not enough to fill movie theater coffers. They felt they had to earn their money with a proper dose of action and the most clichéd genre tropes. This "safe bet" ultimately cost the film two stars. Overall impression: 60%. ()

inglês Right and from now on it’s bottled water only. Solid craftsmanship. After A Perfect Getaway, Timmy Olyphant continues in his guise of nice guy with gun, foxy Radha Mitchell effs and blinds her way through and the characters behave pretty sensibly, so it’s no problem to cross your fingers for them on their journey. This may be a classic horror B-movie, but a couple of scenes are outstanding, the action is shot really well and some of the ideas are quite original. I enjoyed it. :) ()

inglês To me, the remake of The Crazies has the bare minimum of what every good (above-par) horror film should have, the things that incline the successful/unsuccessful scale to the more pleasing side, which is certainly good, and something you can’t say about many representatives of the genre. The best thing about this film is that it’s not bad, the worst, in contrast, is that it’s not better. Fans will be happy, or rather, not pissed off. PS: I’m rounding up the 7/10 for certain scenes (there is a small highlight every fifteen minutes, I’m not exaggerating). ()
