Otto is an elderly movie star and a cause of a lot of troubles for Martin, an ambitious young director. Otto’s unreliability and his penchant for alcohol lead to a peculiar decision – all scenes are shot with two actors. Squabbles arise between the star and its stand-in as well as the other members of the crew whose relationship is often more than strictly professional. In one of his latest movies, Dresen uses the form of a “making-of” film to depict the tension of the duality of life – on the set and outside – with his typical bittersweet undertone. The echoes of the past as well as the awareness of the approaching end of (not only) the filming are again necessary to search for in the expressions of the face. (Febiofest)
