Paul é um escritor em crise de inspiração que vive sozinho numa velha casa de montanha. Deprimido com uma recente separação, espera usar isso a seu favor para terminar um argumento para um filme que mudará o rumo da sua vida. Um dia, numa ida à cidade mais próxima, conhece Jack e oferece-lhe um lugar para ficar durante alguns dias em troca de pequenos arranjos na habitação. Mas o aparentemente tranquilo Jack toma algumas atitudes despropositadas. Paul começa a ter dúvidas sobre as intenções do seu convidado e a temer pela própria vida. Quando uma terrível tempestade corta a energia e a rede telefónica da zona, um clima de terror instala-se entre os dois, com Paul a ver-se subitamente refém de um demente dentro da sua própria casa. Antonio Banderas is playing with a human soul here. Not only is Jonathan Rhys Meyers not playing by the rules but Antonio, as a writer, is clearly dominating here and he apparently doesn’t know what to do with his recently started book. So, he needs to vent his anger a bit and come up with a great ending. It is a pity, though, that what Antonio enjoys, the viewer doesn’t. The recluse writer is a very gratifying topic but with an approach like this, he will, at best, retire.

Actually, it wasn't bad at all, and the central duo of Banderas and Rhys Meyers appealed to me. They fit well together, especially in the sense of their mismatched dynamic. The finale isn't bad either; there's something unexpected about it, although I won't claim it's outright great. Nevertheless, I believe it's a pretty good way to make a thriller that can be enjoyable.
