From Weepies to Chick Flicks is an entirely clever product of pop-feminism. This is mainly due to Molly Haskell, who presents a condensed yet slightly expanded version of her influential book From Reverence to Rape. However, some of the statements by the actresses and female filmmakers drag the documentary down to the level of tabloid gossip and only reinforce the stereotypical perception of films for women and their viewers.
