Um filme de sobrevivência simpaticamente bem-feito com um orçamento muito baixo. Basta uma atuação credível, diálogos que revelam a natureza das personagens, e locais aparentemente mundanos nos quais, ameaça colidir com zombies. Basicamente, é «apenas» sobre a amizade dos dois gajos. Gosto de como Gardner não mostra intencionalmente eventos que noutro filme seriam ao contrário uma atração excitante. Como ele os mantém detrás da porta. Ainda assim, no seu posterior After Midnight, ele leva este conceito a uma posição muito mais sofisticada, com um ponto muito fixe. Isto é apenas um divertimento lúdico.

Between three and four stars, but for an indie directorial début I’m going higher. During the first two acts, The Battery is probably the most easy-going zombie film I’ve ever seen (the zombies don’t pose much of a threat, they are like props in a nice indie summer comedy), but in the last act the film switches into a more intimate but also darker and effective mode. It’s a very well made indie flick, with perfect performances and atmosphere, and a great soundtrack. We will sure hear more from Jeremy Gardner.
