In that movie, you can see throughout that it does not want to be primarily a cruel film, even though it depicts human cruelty. Above all, it is a film about a person who has found themselves in a situation that was clearly unenviable. In some cases, fate is forgiving and everything can turn out relatively well. Unfortunately, the result of the film can then be rather mediocre.
