Sonita, a teenage Afghan refugee in Iran, dreams of becoming a rapper as famous as her idols Rihanna and Michael Jackson. She sees in her music a form of liberation and transformation, even though in Iran women are forbidden from making music. Anyway, Sonita's mother has other plans for her: return to Afghanistan and sell her into marriage for 9 000 dollars, with which her brother will be able to buy his future wife. Conversations with Sonita's classmates circle around the topic of "how much are they going to pay for you?, how old is your husband-to-be?" (Ambulante)
