Solidarność według kobiet

The official story of the history of Solidarity speaks of men. The history of women, female revolutionists, and fighters is added as pencil-written marginal notes. It fades as nobody takes it seriously. “The history of women is overgrown with weeds and moss. How to recover it? How to tell it?” asks the author of the Polish documentary Solidarity According to Women. She points to a certain discrepancy of the Solidarity’s historical image as a male movement and the fact that the number of women and men in the former Polish group were about equal. A problem occurred when female dissidents pushed to be a part of the decision-making process on the Solidarity’s orientation combined with impact of Poland’s freedom from the Soviet Union.
