A father is trying to find his daughter, so he uses her ex-boyfriend to do it. Yes, this plot alone is somewhat perplexing, not to mention the strange situations that pile up on top of each other. But within the logic of the film, it works quite well. The message at the end is quite strange, and if it weren't for the interesting actors, you'd feel like completely ditching it.
