Lizzy is a tough, resourceful frontierswoman settling a remote stretch of land on the 19th-century American frontier. Isolated from civilization in a desolate wilderness where the wind never stops howling, she begins to sense a sinister presence that seems to be borne of the land itself, an overwhelming dread that her husband dismisses as superstition. Um (melo)drama feminino com um conjunto de elementos de horror do velho mundo, subtis. Mas esperar uma experiência de horror seria um erro The Wind é mais sobre a revelação gradual de um acontecimento trágico e o seu efeito psicológico sobre o personagem principal. Bela realização cinematográfica: a vasta planície de grande-angular, o som constante do vento, uma representação decente de Caitlin Gerard. Mas não vou dar quatro estrelas, não gosto nada dessas composições de flashback, apoio mais a direção da frente. [Sitges FF]

O início minimalista da colonização do oeste selvagem da perspetiva de uma mulher que é assombrada por um demónio da pradaria na ausência do seu marido. O filme de terror psicologicamente construído é adequado a uma narrativa não linear, saltando de forma surpreendente entre vários planos temporais, em que as tragédias de dois casais amigáveis são sistematicamente reveladas. Atores acima da média e direção acima da média, tentando com sucesso construir tensão e mistério sem cair na rotina ou mostrar demasiado. É mais um drama psicológico do que um filme de terror, mas realizado inteligentemente e com capacidade. O engraçado é que um filme que gira em torno de protagonistas femininas, também dirigido e escrito por mulheres, é basicamente sobre como as heroínas não têm tudo em ordem na cabeça.

A psychological horror which skilfully uncovers the heroine’s thoughts using various time planes. During the entire 85 minutes, the viewer is watching the main character whose mind is key to grasping the story. The director attempts to connect its audience to the tough fate and emotional strain experienced by lonely women in the days of the American Wild West settlement. Unfortunately, The Wind’s plotline doesn’t innovate much and I’m afraid it will quickly fade out of my head. [Sitges 2018]

For a debut, the direction is solid, it looks nice, the acting is convincing, but the pace is very slow to uninteresting and the horror elements are sparse. Rather, the film is a psychological depressing feminist drama about an isolated woman haunted by demons. I liked the music and at least something started to happen in the finale, but I was rather bored. 50%
