(episódio)

Sinopses(1)

Hercule Poirot's famous powers of deduction are called on following the death of Richard Abernethie, head of the somewhat dysfunctional Abernethie clan. As the family gather for the reading of Richard's will, Abernethie's sister Cora blurts out her belief that he was murdered. Poirot assumes he is travelling by train across the country to interrogate Cora about her bombshell, but on the day after the funeral Cora herself is hacked to death by an intruder. The family's solicitor Entwhistle asks him to investigate not just Richard's death, but the mysterious demise just 24 hours after his cremation of his younger sister. (iTunes)

inglês A Belgian standard, the mustache of the story is satisfactorily twisted and the film wax fits well on it, but I kind of missed Hercule's insight and the more juicy bonmots of "the grayest cortex in the world". I think that it would be a portion for the series that is just right, because it gets a little boring as a TV show. Of course, it is pleasant to watch, and David Suchet is a reliable guarantee. ()

inglês The excellent story on which this detective story stands appears almost predictably resolved at the end, but that's just a testament to how well it's written. The straightforward revelation is more a result of you thinking it was clear all along, but in reality, it wasn't. Great characters, well-known names, and an excellent Poirot who remains wonderfully self-centered. ()
