The anxious mob boss is about to finish his prison sentence but he is suffering a nervous breakdown behind bars and the only one who can diagnose his ailments is Sobel. After a string of hysterical tests, the Feds grant Sobel permission to observe Vitti as a patient and, much to the dismay of Sobol's wife Laura (Lisa Kudrow), as a house guest. However, Sobel has problems of his own. He's suffering from a severe identity crisis after the death of his father, and Vitti's presence in his suburban New Jersey home has the psychiatrist acting crazy too. In an effort to straighten Vitti out, Sobel decides that the solution is to find him a real, honest job. Vitti tries his hand at several ill-matched professions, and finally finds his dream job as a technical advisor on a SOPRANOS-like cable television show. Everything is going smoothly until Vitti starts to take the show a little too seriously, calling his former mafia cohorts to the set. (texto oficial do distribuidor)

português Os primeiros 20 minutos são ótimos, muito prometedores. Mas depois de as cartas serem distribuídas, o argumentista não sabe o que é um ás e o que é um valete. E o realizador Harold Ramis está um pouco aborrecido. Os atores são excelentes, Robert De Niro brilha novamente. Algumas piadas valem a pena ver, mas, em geral, o filme é de meia estrela mais fraco do que o original Analyze This. ()

inglês It's still watchable and relatively funny in the beginning, but the more the runtime progresses, the more the polished dialogue in the style of the first episode is abandoned in favour of slapstick. Qualitatively completely unworthy of its older sibling, but still a passable comedy. Only that it’s not that funny. ()

inglês The second film suffers from the same ailment as its predecessor. Watching Paul Vitti's softened mobster, divinely played by Robert De Niro, brilliantly parodying his most famous tough-guy mafia poses, means that you will be swept up in never-ending humorous intoxication. Yet the moment a more serious level comes into play (the rivalry of the Italian families for power), Ramis suspiciously starts to have issues because it is clear that he is not very confident in these waters. The ending is such a below-average attempt at a combination of action, wit, and some sort of point that drags the whole previous effort down into mediocrity. ()
