A decent enough crime drama in a military setting. Perfect cast, very good script and an amazing John Travolta. I could easily stand more films like this. ()
John Travolta didn't fit the role for my tastes. His quipping was awkward, and when he was supposed to be angry, I really didn’t buy it. Simon West, in short, probably won't be the director to push him to give a good dramatic performance, although Travolta certainly has what it takes. Madeleine Stowe, on the other hand, gave off a much more plausible impression. Luckily, though, The General's Daughter has an interesting, honest crime plot and manages to be thrilling, so no spectator harm takes place - it’s just rather unfortunate that it could have been better if, for example, the considered Michael Douglas had accepted the main role.
