O Toque da Medusa (1978)

inglês After a second viewing, it definitely deserves five stars. The Medusa Touch is an incredibly escalating film that creeps stealthily from the chilling beginning, hissing like a snake, occasionally sticking out its imaginary horns (yes, I know a snake doesn't have horns), but only attacking you with all its force in the final 20 minutes. The thrilling experience of Burton's and Ventura's performance is underlined by the essentially brilliant music, Gold's direction caters to it all and makes it TRULY one of the most thrilling films of all time.

007 - Aventura no Espaço (1979)

inglês Three and a half stars. I'll say right from the start that my main problem with Moonraker is Richard Kiel. His Jaws is completely unnecessary here, and - let's face it - awkward. I literally hate the scenes with the braided busty blonde, whether it's their meeting or what happens to them at the end of the film. Brrr. Jaws just wasn't supposed to be here, but you know how it goes - once the audience likes a character, why not put them back in, right, filmmakers? Nevermind. I have absolutely no qualms regarding the rest of the film. It's an exaggerated Bond film (like Brosnan's Die Another Day), it comes closest to parodying itself, and is all the more entertaining for it. A ride in Venice, a river chase in Rio... However, director Gilbert and composer Barry deserve absolute praise for the scene of the escape of the beautiful pilot from the Dobermans. Although it is one of the crueler scenes, it is incredibly beautifully filmed. And Lois Chiles is one of the most beautiful Bond girls ever.__P.S. Music blaring during launch and space flight... Simply divine.

O Reino (2007)

inglês A solidly made film, but one that may bore people expecting an action flick. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case with me, so I'm satisfied. In terms of acting and likability, the foursome of American agents may be dominated by "native" Ashraf Barhom, but that doesn't mean Foxx or Jennifer Garner are lousy. On the contrary. I didn't find any significant mistakes in the script, I've been enjoying Berg's direction for a long time, a few message at the end, some reflection... Yeah, I liked The Kingdom.

Ženy v pokušení (2010)

inglês A weaker film by Vejdělek, but still better than average by Czech standards. The direction is pleasant and at times even imaginative (the psychologist Helena confesses to herself), the actresses and actors really act (except Jiří Macháček, who annoyed me). The casting of Lenka Vlasáková was a great idea and Vojtěch Dyk - their performances are second to none. No, not even Eliška Balzerová, whose much-talked-about "acting genius" lies only in the fact that she does and says things that no one would expect her to. The script could have avoided many of the cheap jokes.

O Homem Que Queria Ser Rei (1975)

inglês A great film, literally ruled by Connery and Cain. What more can I say? If you like adventure, suspense, British humor, films about friendship being tested, and films that show you an idea to ponder for a long time... The Man Who Would Be King is here for you. Scenes like the one with the avalanche, the ball game, the wedding or the suspension bridge are unforgettable.

007 - Missão Ultra-Secreta (1981)

inglês After a pre-credits scene with a slightly self-parodic (but funny) ending, it's a typical Moore Bond film again. Bond hooks up with a vengeful girl and they go after throats... Anyone’s throat. The film is funny, the action scenes are very good (the long ski chase, Bond and Melina dragging behind a boat or the climbing scene which is really tense), but the villain is not great. He's good enough, though. The smuggler Columbo gets major points from me, as he could have given charisma to three-quarters of the film crew and still had enough left for himself. The music was composed by Bill Conti instead of John Barry, and that was not a good choice... But still, four pure stars. P.S. If Q would install the same "security" in my car as in Bond's white lotus.... I'd kill him!

Ashanti (1979)

inglês I give it three stars. Ashanti has a stellar cast, a quality director, a fairly simple story... And it’s too long. The film doesn't really start to get interesting until about half an hour in, when Caine's character meets Bedi Malik and the two head out into the desert. Were the beginning shorter, those four stars would be pure. I could have done without the barking of Holden (which is completely unnecessary in the film) and Harrison and the whole helicopter part. Besides Caine, I really liked Ustinov's Suleiman.

As Desventuras de Sherlock Holmes (1988)

inglês A great comedy (the word "parody" is a bit off in this case) that could have been about ten minutes shorter and it would have gotten a fifth star. Caine and Kingsley are great as the central duo, I could watch their banter forever, and the idea of the film (Holmes is a drunk actor, Watson is the brain that Holmes probably doesn't have) will please everyone and will not offend any Doyle fan. I'll bet you that Guy Ritchie has watched Without a Clue. The resemblance between the scene on the docks, for example, and the "like old photographs" captions he used in the new Sherlock cannot be coincidental.

007 - Operação Tentáculo (1983)

inglês I also give this Bond ****... BUT: The pre-title scene with the bomb and the mini-plane is funny, but not particularly breathtaking. The title song isn't bad, but what plays out on screen during it is an incredibly uninteresting parade of awkwardly dancing and flying silhouettes. The rest of the film is a different beast altogether. The scene with the clown-009 already has momentum, but the film only really gets going in India. The rickshaw chase is brisk, the battles in the crowd between the fakirs are just as brisk... Bond's hunt with the elephants is classic dodging bullets, but that doesn't matter. But the two best moments are still to come. 1) The train scene (his pursuit by the "rail Mercedes", the scuffles on the roofs and in the carriages, and MOST IMPORTANTLY - Bond in a gorilla suit and when he is looking at his watch, which made me howl with laughter). 2) The ending with the plane. Nothing to do here but marvel at the stunt performances, a first class display! Too bad about the circus-like palace robbery, which is unnecessary and only stretches the film. Oh, and I give both thumbs and all fingers up for that parade of beautiful women.

The Hunting Party (2007)

inglês Both gritty and chillingly funny, a well-written, well-acted and skillfully, briskly filmed story. I wasn’t bored for a second. And it has a great soundtrack. Comparable to Cage's Lord of War.
