Ichi decided to submit to a pilgrimage and visit a total of 8 temples, thereby making amends and trying to atone for how many people he has already killed. And that it would cost the army no problems. However, even proper atonement is not granted to him, so he must at least reconcile with the fact that he will experience a rather nice romance.
