The main protagonist Maťo lives a carefree life with no rules. He and his childhood friend Tomáš steal cars for a car repair shop. Maťo’s life changes radically when he meets and falls in love with Veronika. Veronika lives the respectable life of a university student. She grew up in an orphanage and lives in a boarding house paid for by her school. She is constantly trying to contact her mother, whom she has never seen. Maťo doesn’t tell her the whole truth about himself, and would like to change his life because of her. The first conflicts
appear between Maťo and Tomáš. Maťo wants to break free from his current way of living, so he and Tomáš agree to one last score. They go to rob a gas station, but because of an unfortunate accident, Maťo becomes an accessory to murder.

Jakub Kroner sabe o que interessa aos jovens espetadores. Conhece o mundo em que vivem e sabe como dirigi-lo de uma forma cativante. Sabe dar aos personagens uma dimensão civil, para mostrar o que há de belo nelas mesmo quando são outsiders. Não encontrará um «filme de género» tão puro e sincero, mesmo entre os filmes checos contemporâneos, que de resto são de muitos níveis superiores aos dos filmes eslovacos. Foi isso que me surpreendeu e encantou em Money or Love. O que me surpreendeu no filme foi a sua infantilidade, a sua incapacidade de apelar a um espetador mais velho que o adolescente. Kroner tem muito potencial para «cinema comercial eslovaco», pode até um dia reinar, mas para ser levado a sério por um público mais experiente, mais adulto, precisa de crescer.

I have to admit that I'm not exactly a big fan of the use of a modern camera that constantly dodges, nor am I a fan of handheld cameras, but in this case it works and enhances the individual scenes. Love has a good story and well acted characters, well within the scope of what was needed.
