How to cope with a distressing life situation? Probably according to what is inherent to you. The main character has a natural instinct for long jump, and so he jumps for his mother, before she is disconnected from the machines. He wants to jump 9 meters, which is exactly the distance between two buildings. Emotionally strong, but not unnecessarily strained.
