A Boa Mentira

Há muito tempo que não vejo um filme que defenda de forma tão pura, forte e não sentimental os valores familiares. E, ao mesmo tempo, confronte duas culturas diametralmente opostas de forma tão inteligente, sensível e engraçada. O par de cenas onde, vagueando no deserto, os nativos cravam uma palha oca no chão para beber água subterrânea, e anos mais tarde cravam intuitivamente uma palha plástica num copo MacDonald's para beber uma Coca-Cola, é TOPO. Bem escrito, representado e dirigido. Fiquei comovido. Witherspoon vende o filme nos cartazes, mas só aparece no filme depois de meia hora. O papel principal aqui é desempenhado por um grupo de sudaneses, dos quais pelo menos "ela" não é uma atriz (o que é irreconhecível). Produzido sob o patrocínio de Brian Grazer e Ron Howard. You know that what makes a quality film is the issues it deals with and not the execution, right? There are a lot of clichés, just enough sentiment and the acting is great, or rather the black Sudanese faces give it a strange, raw and fresh touch of reality. Otherwise, it's a fairytale, with an expected "everything fits together beautifully" scenario, and in fact that's about the last thing that really happens in this clash of two different worlds, off-screen. The film is actually quite good and it shows that moving to America with the expectation that it will be the promised land is a big lie. What bothered me immensely, though, was the calculating nature of Reese's character. She is such a clichéd character - a woman who doesn't care about anything until she meets completely different people and realizes what she had done wrong - it's just unpleasant. (17/12/2014)
