Um inocente dia no parque torna-se numa inesperada tragédia quando Karla (Halle Berry) procura desesperadamente o seu filho de seis anos e o vê a ser levado por dois estranhos que o põem nas traseiras de um carro e rapidamente desaparecem sem deixar rasto. Sem uma matrícula para procurar ou um telemóvel com o qual chamar a polícia, tem de ser Karla a tentar salvar o filho. No que se torna numa perseguição cheia de adrenalina, altas-velocidades e um tanque de combustível perigosamente perto de estar vazio, Karla tem de fazer difíceis escolhas se alguma vez quiser voltar a ver o seu filho. Uma grande dose de non-stop suspense e situações de género imparáveis, degradadas apenas por frases patéticas, indignas dum thriller de topo. Ainda assim, dou-lhe uma quarta estrela, para aquela viagem de high-octane e Halle precisa.

An average silly thriller with an angry and determined Halle Berry. Fortunately, the film has a decent pace, sleazy bad guys and entertains nicely for 90 minutes, so as an unpretentious flick on a dull evening Kidnap holds up just fine, but it could have been better. The Call was twice as good. 60%

I thought I was in for a suspenseful thriller, but instead I got a weird commercial for an armored Chrysler and the US Highway System. I didn't enjoy the chase much as it was too long and interspersed with emotionally strained monologues addressed to God (absent) and the son (also absent). The writing felt uninspired and rather predictable, and the ending was downright dumb.

Halle Berry simply nailed this film about a mother saving her abducted son. She is excellent, believable, and not annoying. Furthermore, the film has that proper hill billy vibe, so you won't be sure how it will end and what it's really about. For me, "Kidnap" is a slightly above-average thriller.
