Dogged by bad luck stemming from an ancient family curse, young Stanley Yelnats (LaBeouf) is sent to Camp Green Lake, a very weird place that's not green and doesn't have a lake. Once there, he's thrown headlong into the adventure of his life when he and his colorful campmates -- Squid, Armpit, Zigzag, Magnet, X-Ray, and Zero -- must dig a hole a day to keep the warden at bay. Uma comédia de fantasia agradável com um excelente elenco de atores brilhantes nos principais papéis de adultos. O problema é que os verdadeiros personagens principais são crianças, e o filme não é, devido ao seu tema, para crianças. Não é que seja inapropriado para elas, mas não lhes diz nada. Trabalhos Forçados é mais um conto de fadas original para os adultos. Um filme para descansar de bom gosto, habilmente filmado, com um encanto particular. E com um tempo de duração demasiado longo.

If the historical flashbacks didn't have so much space, two problems would have been avoided: the excessive runtime and the hold back from the more interesting line in the camp.
