The Weather Man (2005)

inglês A story of person who is trying to become what we all want to be. More successful, better and so on. The snippets of the ordinary life of Dave Spritz show the everyday problems which most of us know and everybody will find something that applies to them. Cage gave an excellent acting performance, as did Michael Caine. His “daddy" is just perfect. The Weather Man is a pleasant and a slightly untraditional comedy that entertains you but also makes you think about the hardship of our lives. By the way, have you noticed that this is the second movie with Cage in a short space of time where the hero is the narrator himself?

Libertem Willy (1993)

inglês An incredible film starring a killer whale. The first time I saw it (I couldn't have been more than seven) I was thrilled. Now I just remember those times.

Longxiong hudi (1986)

inglês The first Jackie Chan movie I ever saw (the second was Police Story). I must say that I was over the moon and I remember to this day how I used to play at being Jackie and watching it over and over again on that old VHS. I was absolutely obsessed with it. Everything was perfect - the cars, the jokes, the plot, the jokes, just everything was perfect. Jackie is simply so cool and tough that he meant everything to me.

A Idade do Gelo 2: Descongelados (2006)

inglês They screwed a slightly different, inoffensive story that is entertaining and makes you laugh. The wisecracks and dialogs are as amusing as last time, plus Scrat is put to much greater use and more interestingly and at the end he is unbeatable. A respectable little brother to part one which definitely is nothing to be ashamed of.

Alien Adventure (1999)

inglês Years ago, our class traveled to Prague to visit a trade fair. As an item of cultural refreshment, our teacher suggested that we go to take a look at the new super-duper IMAX mega-movie-theater, so we could take home some exciting experiences. I eagerly looked at the program to see what was playing. The choice was either Santa vs. the Snowman 3D or Alien Adventure 3D. Now you probably guessed what we went to see. I must say that I was fairly open minded and tried to enjoy all those 3D tricks, but that didn’t change anything about the fact that it looked like a tour through a poorly made computer game and that it gave me a headache in the end. Plus, I prefer 2D. I enjoyed Spider-Man 2 and Batman on the big screen much more.

Astérix et le coup du menhir (1989)

inglês Definitely the gloomiest Asterix. The atmosphere of doom and destruction may be too real at times, especially when I consider that this is really a kid’s movie. The humor (which is one of the best things about the movie) is mainly thanks to Getafix, who suffers from amnesia after being hit by Obelix's menhir. If I remember correctly The Big Fight was actually my first Asterix movie (as for the comic books, “Asterix and the Golden Sickle" was excellent).

A Fúria da Razão (1971)

inglês I just couldn't wait for Harry to kill that demented, braindead idiot, because I haven't seen such a stupid “killer" like this in a long time. I hope the real Zodiac Killer that inspired Dirty Harry had at least a little intelligence. Clint Eastwood carries the whole film; great wisecracks alternate with action sequences that were outstanding for that era. The music is surprisingly good and perfectly complements the atmosphere of the movie. A classic.

Cães Danados (1992)

inglês Mr. White, Mr. Blond, Mr. Blue, Mr. Orange, Mr. Brown, and Mr. Pink are supposed to rob a jewelry store. Something goes wrong, or rather someone betrays them. Mr. Orange gets it in the stomach, and Mr. White tries to take him to a safe, pre-arranged meeting place: the warehouse. Mr. White is wondering what to do next when Mr. Pink comes in. They are wondering what the hell happened... This is roughly the beginning of Tarantino’s first excellent film, which, together with Pulp Fiction, is among the pearls of world cinema. Top acting performances, excellent screenplay, great directing, cult lines, and, above all, plausibility, make the Reservoir Dogs an unforgettable cinematic experience.

Far and Away (1992)

inglês Sometimes it pays to just sit in front of the TV and watch what's on. In the beginning it’s a bit of a nontraditional romantic drama which slowly unfolds throughout the film, with "Mr. Big" John Williams playing along. Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman give great, natural performances and Ron Howard does a good job as usual. A pleasant surprise.

Medo de Morte (2006)

inglês Wow, Paul Walker shows his real colors and from now I will take greater notice of Wayne Kramer. It’s not often you see things like this. Plus, Karel Roden’s performance here puts him in first place of all my favorite Czech actors. Keep up the good work, Karel. As I was saying, the directing is excellent, reminding me at times of Tony Scott and his Domino. Great actors, an almost perfect screenplay (the very end went a little wrong), twists, shootouts... superb. I look forward to your next project, Wayne. :-)
