Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

inglês Okay. Wes Anderson completely won me over with this, especially because he cast Ralph Fiennes in a role that perfectly suited his British acting style. I had a great time with the film. It's wonderfully magical, and I enjoyed seeing the plethora of great actors in fantastic roles once again. The best Anderson film I've ever seen.

The Full Treatment (1960)

inglês Another beautiful example of how the Hammer studio excelled when it came to these small, understated films. Great characters, but with a solid plot that does drag a bit, and admittedly ends somewhat conventionally. However, that doesn't change the fact that you're engaged throughout, anticipating every moment, just like the main character.

Relíquia Macabra (1941)

inglês A true classic and by all accounts, one of the first films that can be labeled as a film noir. It's tricky because expressionism also played with shadows similarly, while The Maltese Falcon, on the other hand, somewhat avoids them. However, the story about a statuette that everyone is still trying to find is wonderfully effective, and it even surprises with humor, although not with a great ending.

Moving Takahashi (2011)

inglês What happens when you're moving your family and suddenly realize that the girl living in the house has just swallowed pills and is now just waiting for the embalmers to take care of her? However, neither the young man who isn't moving much has the intentions that it initially seemed he had. A drama/not-a-drama that plays with the situation but doesn't really make much of it.

O Último Capítulo (2006)

inglês I prefer other films by Aronofsky, that's pretty clear from the ratings, but you can't deny that this one has something to offer, primarily a story about the beauty of life and love. It's evident that Aronofsky is deeply influenced by the Old Testament, as he demonstrated with Noah, but he doesn't necessarily follow the traditional religious path in either case, and he adapts everything to his style. The Fountain, however, isn't necessarily a larger work despite that.

Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines (2012) Boo!

inglês Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines is indeed a wrong turn. Most horror TV productions nowadays are more believable, suspenseful, and frightening, with better sets, scene layouts, and less boredom. Declan O'Brien has given up on tension, and the characters' dumb giggling becomes the film's motto. I enjoyed some of the songs from the soundtrack the most, even though they didn't quite suit the scenes. Well, at least I could appreciate them.

The Lady Eve (1941)

inglês Henry Fonda is unbelievably charming in the role of a naive millionaire whom a beautiful stranger wants to swindle out of his money. However, not everything is as it seems in the plan, and everything ends up differently. Sure, it's a bit clichéd, but the performances are so excellent that you simply have to enjoy this comedy, including the absurd repetition of some funny elements.

Rest (2011)

inglês Then they say within the zombie genre it's no longer possible to come up with anything original. The opposite is true, as the film Rest clearly proves. I'm not saying it's a great film, but within the zombie genre, it's relatively original. It's interesting in that it's wordless, it has good masks, and it ultimately entertains with a good point, making you realize what a nice romance it actually is.

Human Beings (2012)

inglês This is about what can happen sometimes when you overdo the celebrations and you're still young. It's somewhat absurd, at times almost surreal, and it isn't particularly packed with plot. Simply put, it's a film about waking up from a haze and realizing that what preceded it was quite crazy. There are plenty of similar films, and this one is tuned to a dramatic tone. Surprisingly.

For the Remainder (2011)

inglês No, this won't knock me off my feet, because I don't really like the animation itself. Yes, the graphics are interesting, no doubt about that, but when it doesn't grab you, what can you do about it? The emotions remained hidden for me and that's all.
