The Invisible

Um thriller de fantasmas sobre os jovens para os jovens, em que absolutamente nada funciona da maneira como pretende. A direção do Goyer poderia ser aceite no terceiro Blade, que não fingia ser mais do que uma diversão idiota. The Invisible, contudo, quer ser um drama sério, suspenso e emocionalmente desarmante, e falha completamente em todos os aspetos, só suscitando amargura, incredulidade e, por vezes, um sorriso de zombaria. O valor da produção é sólido, definitivamente não é um filme B barato, e Justin Chatwin tem o encanto de uma personalidade jovem (e obtém consideravelmente mais espaço aqui do que no filme «técnico» Guerra dos Mundos), no entanto, Goyer enterra tudo isso. É com filmes como este que melhor se apercebe do que é a arte de dirigir realmente bem... Opte por Efeito Borboleta emocionalmente funcional ou por atmosfericamente interessante Donnie Darko. An undemanding, mysterious little movie aimed mostly at a teenage audience. An interesting premise, a straightforward and predictable script, a clichéd and kitschy climax – it’s all there and it’s quite nice to watch. The actors are decent for the standards of the teenage genre, but the direction is so uninteresting that devalues any hint of atmosphere or dramatic depth, and they could have cut out a lot more. 60% (01/02/2008)

An exciting film with an interesting theme, where the fact that no one sees the person is quite well portrayed. There is no forced interaction with people, there is an interesting moment when the character believes they are influencing their surroundings, but in reality, it is not happening. It's a shame that it repeats too often and gradually loses its charm. However, Goyer directed a pleasant mainstream suspense film that at least deserves a bit above average rating. (30/03/2014)
